We look forward to welcoming you to the Red Wing area for LPHA's Summer Retreat and General Membership meeting! Along the banks of the Mississippi, we will embark on a journey to nurture our well-being and fortify our resilience with sessions that promise to invigorate the spirit and equip you with invaluable tools to navigate the challenges of public health work. "Banishing Burnout and Taming Toxic Stress" offers strategies to reclaim your vitality and maintain a healthy balance amidst demanding responsibilities. Delve into "Emotionally Intelligent, Trauma Informed; Is There Anything New Under the Sun?" as we find common ground in how we overcome traumas in ourselves and how we support others to do the same. Finally, "Healing Through Hope and Compassion" invites reflection on these two critical states of being that keep burnout at bay and help us to navigate overwhelm, apathy, and disillusionment as a caregiver. Additionally, you'll have ample opportunities to network and engage with others in a relaxed atmosphere. And don't forget to join us for Thursday’s evening activity designed to foster camaraderie and laughter, ensuring that your retreat experience is as enjoyable as it is enriching.

LPHA members are encouraged to invite their staff – all those working in local public health are invited and welcome to be part of this time of rejuvenation, connection, and learning.  The basic retreat agenda is now available. If you have any questions about this event, please direct them to Alicia Rodriguez.

Registration Rate: $75/person. This includes all materials needed, lunch, dinner and evening activity on June 20, breakfast and lunch on June 21, and snacks/coffee during the retreat. If the registration fee is prohibitive to your attendance, please contact LPHA staff. Scholarships are available to those in that situation.  The deadline to register for the retreat is 5:00pm, Wednesday, June 5.

Information about Lodging Reservations at Treasure Island Resort:
You are responsible for making your own lodging reservations by calling 1-800-222-7077 x1 and asking for the Booking Code “LPHA”.
Reservation DeadlineMay 21, 2024. After this date, rooms in the block will be released to the public and a room in the LPHA block is not guaranteed.

This retreat is sponsored in part by the CDC COVID-19 Workforce Development Grant administered by MDH, and through these funds, LPHA will cover the cost of 1 hotel room per Local Public Health Agency in the Treasure Island room block for the night of June 20. Local Public Health Agency is defined as a tribal or city health department, or a county health department that has their own director. Departments that serve multiple counties with one director receive one free room. CHBs receive the number of rooms equal to the number of counties with directors in the CHB – a 3 county CHB that has 3 directors plus a CHB administrator still receives 3 free rooms.

The individual receiving the complimentary room will be notified by LPHA ahead of the retreat and will not be charged by Treasure Island upon check-out. The complimentary room that the LPH Agency receives can have single or double occupancy, but must be made in the LPHA block. All individuals are still responsible for making and cancelling their own hotel reservations.

Cancellation Policies

Lodging cancellations: Individuals must cancel their room reservation by contacting the Treasure Island Resort directly at least 24 hours in advance in order to not be charged. Cancellations should be made by calling the reservations line. Those that were told their room would be on the LPHA master bill, but are no shows, will be invoiced by LPHA post-retreat for their unused hotel room.

Registration cancellations: Registration cancellations must be made by 5:00pm Wednesday, June 12 in order to receive a refund. You can cancel your registration by notifying Suzanne LaPalm.  Cancellations made after this date will not receive a refund. If you can no longer attend, please prioritize switching your registration to someone else in your agency rather than cancelling. We can accommodate name changes much easier than cancellations!

  • May 21, 1:00pm - 4:00pm: Remembering Our Passions - Aligning Systems with an Equity Lens
