The Local Public Health Association of Minnesota (LPHA) works to achieve a strong and equitable public health system through leadership and collective advocacy on behalf of the public health organizations of Minnesota’s city, county, and tribal governments.

Eligible Members City, county and tribal governments in Minnesota are eligible members of the association.  Public health managers and supervisors who are employed or appointed by cities, counties, or tribal governments, may serve as voting members of the association.  Each unit of government may appoint four voting members.

  • Promote local governmental public health

  • Promote leadership for local government public health on issues which have regional and statewide impact

  • Provide leadership development for public health professionals who are members of the Association

  • Facilitate communication and interaction among local public health leaders

  • Establish and support linkages among local public health leaders, the Minnesota Department of Health, and other groups and associations.

  • Promote public policy to improve and protect the health of the population of Minnesota

  • Develop and support legislative positions.
